Live Music
From Patch and Totter, members of Heavyweight Dub Champion and Dr. Israel of Method of Defiance.
About Dr. Israel:
“The boundary-crossing works and collaborations of The Legendary Dr. Israel cry out like a call to revolution, embracing styles from reggae to drum ‘n’ bass to hard-core metal. Like Eddy Grant on a counter-cultural warpath, Dr. Israel’s politically charged lyrics and diverse musical foundations deliver a refreshing blast of thought-provoking tracks that will make music fans from all walks stop and tune in. Doc’s ability to represent and reprocess his influences (Black Uhuru, Black Sabbath, Bad Brains, Run DMC, Roni Size) into compelling new forms is astounding. And what ties these styles of music together so organically? The answer is simple: Doc understands that what he loves about all music is BIG BASS and BIG DRUMS. He also understands how to implement that knowledge; this is why Doc is such a truly special musical mind.”
About Patch:
For over a decade Patch was a driving force in the band Heavyweight Dub Champion. Heavyweight fused deep dub with intelligent hip-hop and crushed dance floors throughout the western states, BC, and Europe. Every night on two soundboards Patch engineered 56 channels of music through numerous delays, filters, and fxs. A sonic alchemist and technical innovator he helped define what "Live P.A." meant. In the fall of 2008 Patch left H.D.C. and has since been focusing on doing production work, a few remix projects, and studying infrasonic communication. Still active on the live front Patch has been playing clubs and festivals as his solo self as well as alongside Dr. Israel. This fall sees the release of '1 degree C' his first solo album. An instrumental album that travels from the rainforest floors of Borneo to the deep undersides of antarctic icebergs.
About Totter:
Totter Todd regularly tours with the trip-hop dubtronica outfit HEAVYWEIGHT DUB CHAMPION, of which he has been a member of since 1998, as well as TOTTER, THE WELL TEMPERED PLAYERS, KEVENS and VIRGINIA LEE. Totter has worked on three releases under HDCs (CHAMPION NATION RECORDINGS). ~Survival Guide for the End of Time ~Rise of the Champion Nation, which features KRS-ONE, Killah Priest of the WU-TANG CLAN, dub legend DR.ISREAL, APOSTLE, and STERO-LION. ~Dub Sessions Vol.1 an instrumental HDC album. He recently collaborated on a couple of albums with DR.ISRAEL.
